I've noticed in several threads that many of the people here have studied foreign languages besides English. I've seen lots of different languages, even Dutch! Myself, I've studied French, obviously, but I've also studied Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and even a little bit of Swahili, to different levels. So, what all languages have the rest of you studied?

And also, I know through emails that some listeners are even fluent in other languages besides French -- is anyone actually fluent in more than one language?

I began to study spanish language since three years but I'm not very good. For the moment, I just study english & spanish spoken because it's already hard to learn both.

But I think I will learn you something really funny because I discoverd since a year that Tolkien who made languages in his books writed also grammars of this languages. So any people can leanr this language or these if you prefer. Because, there are two languages : Quenya and Sindarin languages but the first one is more complete. So you can learn more about that in this website really good :

So, good discovering !

Mandarin Chinese is my mother thongue (but I can't read/write in Chinese)
I was born in France so I learned French at school and I have also studied English and German.

By the way, does anyone know good podcasts/websites for German and Mandarin ?

Thomas

No idea on German, but there are several for Mandarin Chinese that I know of and/or use. However, all the ones I'm familiar with are in English, and I don't know if that would be a problem or not for you. But regardless, here are some of them...

ChinesePod -- http://www.chinesepod.com/
Chinese Learn Online -- http://www.chineselearnonline.com/
Mandarin Chinese Lessons with Serge Melnyk -- http://www.melnyks.com/

Some of them are better than others, obviously. I have my personal opinions on whether or not they're good, but I'll withhold those and let you make your own decisions! (some of the things that I don't like might not be a problem for you)

There are a handful of others, such as MyChinesePod, that are not as big. Just search "chinese" or "learn chinese" on the iTunesStore and you'll find a bunch.
