The difference is not so enormous but it interesting to get the difference.

If you say "au-dessous", it means also "à le dessous" (but it's not french of course). In this case, the article "le" asks a precision, an accuracy like in english 'the ... of ..."
So, you would say "J'habite au-dessous de Nantes".

If you use percents, you will say "en-dessous des 9%" for example.

Now, if you say "ci-dessous", you don't have to add something after.

This is my own opinion but I'm sure that it's better to say "ci-dessous" than "au-dessous" in this case!

En deça de l'Atlantique par exemple  veut dire:de ce coté-ci,de ce coté de l'Atlantique ou etre en deçà de la vérité c'est être en dessous de la vérité!mais ce n'est pas trop employé ou alors dans les reportages,chez les écrivains!!
